A idéia, mais disseminada do que se pensa, de que a gestão empresarial está mais para ciência exata do que para outra coisa é antiga. Data do início do século, nos primórdios da teoria da administração, com a chamada administração científica.
No dia-a-dia da gestão empresarial é muito freqüente que o gestor se flagre pensando algo do seguinte tipo: “deve haver uma forma mais técnica, mais exata, mais científica, de fazer isso aqui“.
De fato, sempre há formas diferentes de fazer uma determinada coisa. Umas mais cientificas, outras menos. Afinal, o que se escreve e se ensina de receita de como gerenciar melhor, de como ser mais eficaz, de como ter sucesso, não está, literalmente, no gibi. Mesmo nessas publicações e nesses cursos, há muito pouco de ciência e muito menos ainda de ciência exata.
Claro que isso não significa, de forma alguma, a negação de que existam componentes científicos na gestão. A estatística, os índices, as medições, a precisão, em suma, são instrumentos fundamentais para a gestão conseqüente. Entretanto, devem ser apenas considerados como tal: ferramentas à disposição do gestor que não precisa, a rigor, ser especialista na sua utilização. Elas podem ser, se necessário, totalmente “terceirizadas.”
A realidade empresarial demonstra todo dia, como se pode ver acima nas citações dos três executivos bem sucedidos, que boa parte do processo de gestão (há quem advogue com veemência que é a maior parte) se dá no domínio do “não-científico.” Dá-se no campo da intuição, da improvisação, da criatividade, da invenção. Em suma, no campo daquilo que se poderia chamar de arte. Da arte de gerir, de coordenar pessoas, de fazer com que as coisas aconteçam, com que os resultados surjam, com que se crie algo maior e melhor do que os recursos empregados. Enfim, de fazer com que surja a boa música do encontro dos instrumentos e da disposição e da capacidade das pessoas de tocá-los.
Por isso, gestão não se aprende no colégio. No colégio aprende-se o básico, o teórico, para quê serve e até a usar alguns instrumentos. Não se produz boa música, muito menos boa música de conjunto (como inevitavelmente é o resultado da ação empresarial), tocando burocraticamente os instrumentos pela partitura. A boa música carece de paixão, intuição e, na realidade empresarial, de improviso, muito improviso.
Este tipo de virtuosismo (e é preciso não esquecer que existem “virtuoses” que não sabem sequer ler partitura) só se consegue com prática e treinamento em serviço, com a base científica possível e com todas as antenas da intuição “artística” ligadas.
